A collection of things I've worked on or am currently working on that I can share...
BetterNews
I love Hacker News but often times wished the experience was better. Eventually decided to build my own version called Better News. The goal is to eventually to expand beyond Hacker News to create a better news app overall, hence the name. Currently the first version of the website and mobile app are built (though I'm just testing the app locally on my own device so it's not live in any App Store yet).
If you're not familiar with what Hacker News is, it's essentially a community news site made for tech and startup folks to discuss interesting and curious topics. It works a lot like how a subreddit community on Reddit would work where users upvote stories and can comment on them.
Bookshelf
I'm a prolific reader. Bookshelf, as the name implies, is just a digital catalog of my books, making it easy to search for what books I currently own. I have a large collection of both physical and digital books. This doesn't include everything, nor does it include books my family owns, just what's in my own collection.
I decided to build this because a lot of friends ask what books I have and I figured I might as well have a digital record that I can query and quickly look up what I already have in my private library. A friend joked they want a library card now.
Watch Tower
Watch Tower is a service designed to help people stay up to date on what's happening with companies. You create a list, add companies to this list, and can optionally choose if there are specific criteria you want to be notified about.
Every day the service scans the news for updates relating to the companies you follow, and if there's an update or match to the criteria you've set, you'll be notified.
It's great for customer-facing teams who manage a book of business and want updates on how their customers are doing. Investors can get updates on their portfolio investments. Consumers can follow their favorite companies to learn about new product launches. There are many different users who use Watch Tower for different purposes.
Mozilla Works
This is a sample pitch landing page I built as a proof of concept for the Mozilla Pioneers program. I didn't get accepted into the program but I enjoyed the process of coming up with a new solution for Mozilla. Wishing the winners all the best!
